The Lord Himself consistently calls His people to prayer. Perhaps we have
lapsed into a lukewarm state of self-sufficiency or conformity. At the
dedication of the temple, God called: "If my people, who are called by my
name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and
will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). Through the prophet Jeremiah,
God called: "Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I
will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all
your heart" (Jeremiah 29:12,13). Jesus expressed exasperation at His
followers' lack of prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane: "‘…Could you men
not keep watch with me for one hour?' he asked Peter" (Matthew 26:40b). To
the religious leaders of the day he declared, "It is written … ‘My house
will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a ‘den of
robbers'" (Matthew 21:13). We may not fully understand why God calls us to
pray, but we know He does invite us to pray. And we know that when we pray
He reveals His nature, power and wisdom to us. To know God is the
principal purpose of prayer-to "find Him," to be shown His ways, and to be
changed by His presence.
We cannot be nice enough, smart enough or strategic enough to see transformation happen in our lives, families, church or community. Every bible believing church is always to be a "house of prayer" which includes Living Way.
For this reason, we have opened our church building and are gathering as pastorial leadership for noon hour prayer, Monday to Saturday and invite you to join us. As believers, we are exercising our responsibility and believing God, in turn, to exercise His power. We are acknowledging God’s invitation to “watch and pray” and to “ask, seek, and knock” and are asking you to consider joining us.
Take real good C.A.R.E.!

lead elder and pastor
Much of the above was taken from a column by David Wells (Superintendent of the PAOC) which appeared in the 2009 edition of the testimony.
